The Awakening – Poems Newly Found by Jack Clemo

Edited by John Hurst, Alan M. Kent and Andrew C. Symons

Paperback 85 pages
ISBN 978 1 903427 17 0

Cornish novelist and poet Jack Clemo (1916–1994) was one of the most original voices of the twentieth century. Born in the china clay mining district of Cornwall he lost his hearing in youth and eventually became completely blind. In his poetry erotic and mystical themes predominate, informed by a strong, if highly individual, Christian faith. In range and quality this collection of previously unpublished poems stands alongside his finest published work.

Winner of the Holyer An Gof award for the outstanding literary publication of 2006 awarded by the Gorseth Kernow.
